MTV's Musical March Madness has been full of surprises — the Flaming Lips knocking off My Chemical Romance ... Walk The Moon's improbable string of upsets ... Florence and the Machine's takedown of tourney faves Coheed and Cambria — but, by far, this year's biggest shocker has been the continued success of Ed Sheeran, who entered MMM an unknown, but has quickly served notice that he's a force to be reckoned with.

A win there would put Sheeran in the Final Four ... where he'd likely face off against defending MMM champions Tokio Hotel. But if you think Sheeran's afraid of them, well, you'd be wrong. Why? Well, for starters, before the tournament started, he wasn't even aware of Tokio Hotel's existence.

"Are they an American band? I don't want to sound odd but I haven't heard of them. That's probably me just living under a rock though, if they are defending their championship," Sheeran laughed. "They must have a mental fanbase. My fans, I don't know how much time they spend in front of a computer; they've got school and stuff! They can't be sitting there entering Captcha codes all day."

MTV's Musical March Madness tournament moves to the Elite 8! Voting is now open in all matchups and polls close Friday, April 5 at noon ET, at which point we'll head to the Final Four. All winners are determined by your votes, so if your favorite act made the cut, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory! Un triunfo habría puesto a Sheeran en la "Final Four" ... donde probablemente habría de  enfrentar el MMM con los campeones de Tokio Hotel. Pero si piensas que Sheeran tiene miedo de ellos, bueno, podrías estar equivocado. ¿Por qué? Bueno, para empezar, antes del inicio del torneo, ni siquiera era consciente de la existencia de Tokio Hotel.

"Son una banda estadounidense? Yo no quiero sonar extraño, pero no he oído hablar de ellos. Sheeran ha sido así a lo largo de todo el torneo MMM - cuando él estaba luchando contra Muse, ni siquiera estaba seguro si quería ganar, puesto que "probablemente sería golpeado por alguien como Paramore" con el tiempo. Y ahora, he aquí, él está enfrentándose a Hayley Williams y compañía ... y la votación de la Elite 8 cierra el viernes, 5 de abril al mediodía, hora del este, parece destinado a ir a la derecha hasta el último momento.
